ORDINANCE 2023-07

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE 2004-10 TO LIMIT THE NUMBER OF OFF PREMISE ADVERTISING BILLBOARDS IN THE CITY OF GASSVILLE, ARKANSAS AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

WHEREAS: the City Council has determined that there should be a limited amount of advertising billboards (off premise) constructed in the City of Gassville, Arkansas 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GASSVILLE, ARKANSAS: 

DEFINITION: BILLBOARD: A structure erected and maintained for outdoor advertising purposes upon which a poster, bill printing, device, or painting may be placed to advertise products, goods, services, or business establishments other than those located, conducted, manufactured or sold upon the premises on which the structure is erected. For the purpose of this ordinance noncommercial advertising or messaging shall be included on these structures. 

SECTION 1. That no further permits for new advertising billboards (off premise) signs of any size shall be granted by the Building Inspector in the City of Gassville, Arkansas upon the adoption of this ordinance. It shall be the duty of the office of the Building Inspector to notify by letter the owner of said billboard if it is damaged by acts of nature (weather event) or accidental to the point of replacement of the billboard. A new sign permit would then need to be obtained by the owner for the replacement billboard. 

SECTION 2. That all other sections and provisions of Ordinance 2004-10 shall remain in full force and effect.
